Android: The Easy-To-Understand (ETE) Guide to Rooting, Flashing and Tweaking (Samsung Galaxy Wonder- GT-I8150)

                Hello everybody! How are you? After my birthday, I decided to root my phone, flash ClockworkMod, and flash CyanogenMod 9 to it. Now, I`m gonna make a guide for it. Quite simple. All you need is the phone, at least 2 GB Memory CARD, working WiFi or Mobile Data. That`s all, no computer required! Here we go..

GT-I8150 Ultimate Rooting Guide

Please Backup Your Data!!!!

Download these files and put them in the root external SDcard (Do not extract any file!):
Rooting Package (update.zip)
ClockworkMod Recovery (recovery.img)
Android Terminal Emulator (Google Play)
CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0.4)
Google Apps

1. Rooting
Of all the dozen ways to root, I picked the simplest, fastest, safest and geekiest way.
1. Move the update.zip to the root of your phone ( /sdcard).
2. Confirm that the file is there. Then, turn off your phone.
3. Boot into recovery mode. Press and hold the volume up button+home button+power button. When you see the Samsung LOGO (The first one), let go of the power button ONLY!

4. When you see Andy (the Android logo) beside a box, release everything and press the menu button.

5. The screen will gray out and go to recovery mode. Navigate up/down using volume buttons to Apply Update from SDCard and press the home button. Using the file explorer, search for your update.zip and press the home button.
6. Wait for a while and when the recovery menu comes out again, select Reboot System Now and press the home button.

YOUR PHONE IS ROOTED! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

2. Flashing ClockworkMod
You`ve probably heard of ClockworkMod (You`re not a geek if you don`t). Actually, you don`t need a PC to flash this too! Make sure you have downloaded the Android Terminal Emulator (Google Play) , then we can start.
1. Move the recovery.img to the root of your phone.
2. Start the Android Terminal Emulator.
3. Type in "su" (without the quotes ") and press enter. A popup requesting for Superuser access will open. Press allow.
4. Next type in "dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 " (without the quotes ", that`s a zero 0, not the letter O) Don`t mess up, or you will end up with a bricked device. 
5. Wait for a while and you`re done!

YOUR PHONE HAS CLOCKWORKMOD NOW! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

3. Flashing CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0.4)
Well, even an Android Geek beginner knows this OS. This step doesn`t require a PC, but will wipe the data on your phone. 
1. Keep the CyanogenMod 9 & GApps file in your external SD card. Turn off your phone.
2. Take the external SD card out for safety precautions. Don`t put on the back cover.
3. Boot your phone to recovery (Volume Up+Home+Power, let go Power when Samsung comes out).
4. Now, navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset and press the home button. Confirm by navigating to the Yes and press the home button. Then Wipe Cache.
5. Wait for a while, and when the recovery menu comes out, insert your SD Card. Navigate to Mounts and Storage and choose Mount /external_sd. 
6. Then, navigate to Install Zip from SDcard and then Choose Zip from External SDCard.
7. Choose the cm-9-20130730-UNOFFICIAL-ancora.zip.
8. Then, go there again and pick gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip.
9. Now, choose Reboot System Now.

YOUR PHONE IS NO LONGER THE STOCK ANDROID!!! INTRODUCING CYANOGENMOD!!!!

Now, your phone will run at higher speed than the stock ROM does. Well, the UI is quite self explanatory. Now you can use root apps to Overclock your CPU (I recommend Set CPU for Root Users), hide the status bar (full+screen), auto tasking (Tasker), and most importantly, I can run the Sony SmartConnect App for my Smartwatch!!! Awesome! Have fun with your new device!

P.S. I`ll make a review on my new SW2 I received from my father. :)

In The Kitchen: Preserving Herbs

            Hi everybody! How are you? Hope you`re good. Do you like cooking? If you do, I`m sure you`ve used herbs such as rosemary, thyme, oregano, etc in your cooking. And I`m also sure that you`ve been in a situation which you couldn`t use your herbs in this week and it`s going to turn bad soon.

         Don`t worry! There`s a way to beat that -- freezing it in oil! It is simple. Cut herbs into small pieces so that it fits into an ice tray. Then, fill the ice tray with oil (preferably olive oil, but others work too). Then, toss it into the freezer. Done!

     It's also a great way to have herbs ready immediately for winter stews, roasts, soups, and potato dishes as they require oil to start cooking. So it is just like, take it out of the freezer, put on the pan, let it melt, and cook those onions. As simple as that! Furthermore, the herb-infused oil will add taste to the dishes.

       Here are tips for herb-in-oil preserving:

1. Choose firm, fresh herbs.

2. You can choose to chop or not to chop the herbs.

3. Fill the ice tray wells with 2/3 herbs only.

4. You can mix the herbs too!

5. Pour extra-virgin olive oil or melted unsalted butter into the ice tray.

6. Cover lightly with plastic wrap and leave overnight.

7. Remove cubes and store in containers and label them.

For a school project, me and my group were asked to act out a drama called Rumplestiltskin. We had a month of preparation. We built a few props, acted out a few rehearsals, wasted a few rolls of masking tape, improvised props and here it is, Rumpelstiltskin. Hello everyone!
Today I`m gonna give a review on the Zoom G1XNext Multi effects pedal. But before that, read my story...

             I was searching for two Danelectro Pedals, Fuzz and Chorus. So first I went to DoReMi Music Store (Click for website) in Subang. Not sold. Then I went to The Guitar Store (Click for website) nearby. Same answer, not sold. Instead the shopkeeper showed me a Boss Me-25 Multi Effect Pedal. He also gave a demo on it. The price was RM850, which was cheap said by the shopkeeper. I was like, "Oh soooooo cheap". That night, I surveyed a few cheap multi effect pedals.
              The next day, I went to Music Bliss (Click for website) located at Taman Sri Manja. They sell a lot of musical instruments such as Drums, Guitars and keyboards. They have a recording/jamming studio too. Accessories are also available. I asked the shopkeeper for the G1XN pedal, he brought me upstairs and explained to me about the pedal. The discounted price was RM 220 (Original price was RM 245). I made the payment and went home happily. So here is, Zoom G1XN Multi Effect Pedal!

 If you buy this pedal, you will need to buy 4 AA Batteries or an AC to DC 9v Adapter, like this.
               The batteries will last for about 12 hours with continuous use. It is recommended that you disconnect the input jack when not using. However, I truly recommend you to use an AC adapter for any effect pedal if possible.
Back to the pedal. It has:
- Two turnable knobs, one for effect selector and the other controls the volume and the value of the effects.
- Two foot swithes to switch the Patches and to activate Tuning/ Bypass.
- Four small buttons: - Drums enabler - Bank up/ Tap - Store a user-defined patch - Pedal assign
- A two digit 7- segment Digital display.
- An expression pedal.
- Three jacks, A power jack, input jack and an output jack.
- Seven pedal assigning LED indicators.

  Quick Instruction Manual
 1. Selecting a patch
- Turn power on.
- Insert adaptor to the jack/ Batteries to the compartment.
- Set to Play mode with Mode selector Knob.
- Select patch with the foot switches.
- To change a bank, press the Bank Up button.
- Use the value knob to change the volume.

 2. Tuning
- Press both footswitches and hold till the symbol (nt) appears.
- Play a string and tune.
- First digit shows the Note ( If the decimal point lights up, it indicates that the note is a #). The second digit shows the pitch. If the indicators lights up on the top area of the display, the pitch is too high, and vice versa. The indication speed increases when the pitch is off.
- Turn the value knob to adjust last two digits of the reference pitch. (435-445 Hz)
- Press a foot switch to exit.

 3. Rhythm
- Set to Rhythm mode.
- Press Play/Pause button.
- Select pattern with foot switches.
- Adjust volume with value knob.
- To adjust tempo, press Bank up and turn the value knob, or tap Bank up continuously with your desired speed/ tempo.
- Press Play/Pause button to stop.

 4. Patch Editing
- Set the effects and parameters.
- Press the footswitch to deactivate an effect.
- Return to play mode.

 5. Saving and Copying Patches
- Choose the patch to be copied and press Store.
- To Copy, select the target patch.
- Press Store again.

 6. Expression Pedal
- Press Pedal Assign button to change the target effect module.

For your information, that`s my adapter there in the box. REMEMBER, it isn`t included!!

4 Shared 20 Seconds Download Delay Override

Hi! How are you? Hope you are good. Do you use 4Shared? Do you use the normal download with 20seconds delay? Do you find it annoying? If these are true to you, you should try this! Just follow these:

1. Navigate to the download page and press the download button.

2. You will be redirected to another download page.

3. Here`s the fun part. Click the free download button in grey rapidly 2-4 times.

4.The delay counter will skip some numbers. For instance if you clicked on the download button 3 times, the counter will move down to 3 numbers every second. Here`s an example, 20, 17, 14, 11, 8, 5, 2,0 and the download starts. This means the download will start 8 seconds after the rapid clicks. Repeat if you are redirected to the same page.

So, did it work? If it did, great! Now you don`t have to wait 20 seconds for each download. Enjoy!
